Big Boi, half of the hip-hop supergroup OutKast, was in Columbia on Friday to record a verse for fellow Atlanta rapper Unk’s “Walk it Out” remix.

“Walk it Out,” a top 40 Billboard single, already features OutKast’s other half, Andre 3000, on a remix version that has been played on WHXT-FM Hot 103.9. (The Dipset’s Jim “Ballin’” Jones also is featured on a version.) Big Boi representatives “called us and just made an appointment,” said Jason Caffee, manager of Jam Room, the recording studio off Rosewood on South Prospect Street.

“It was just straight up. It just happened to be Big Boi.”

Steve Slavich engineered the recording.

You might hear Big Boi’s recorded verse when Unk performs at the Colonial Center on Saturday as part of T.I.’s “ATL Invasion” tour. If you know the song, for the concert you’ll need to learn the dance. For that, you’ll need You Tube. Walkin’ it out is harder than it looks.
